Ras Luimni a great Success

The 2010 Ras Luimni was a great success with 212 riders entering, even the sunshine came out.

Limerick CC would like to thank all the marshals, the Garda, Civil Defense, motorcycle riders, lead car drivers and the local community who ensured the race would be as safe as possible.

A special mention much be given to Pat Spaight and Arthur Schmid who put in a lot of time to organize the race. Well done to Limerick’s Bran Hart who achieved his first ever placing, finishing 2nd in the A4 race

Some photo can be seen in Kieran Clancy site. Race Reports and Photographs to follow

Mick Cahill Memorial and Carrick Cabs Cup

Martin and Ivan hit the deck!

A large group from Limerick CC entered both of these races. Limerick CC riders were very active in each and were present in most of the big moves. The pace was high on both days and a stiff headwind made ideal conditions for breakaways.

In the Mick Cahill Memorial A1/A2 Adian Gallery finished in an excellent 4th place after a long day in a 4-man breakaway with Owen Ryan, Alan Buckley and Mike Lynch finishing safely in the bunch. In the A3 race, Ritchie Clifford, Brian Hart, Filippo Cassina, Peter Bane, Martin Phillips, Arthur Schmidt and Wil Cook all finished safely in the bunch.

The Carrick Cabs cups was held on St Patrick’s Day on the traditional circuit. In the A1/A2 race Owen Ryan and Aidan Galley were very active throughout the day and finished with the main group. In the A3 race, with over 100 starting, Mike Lynch came home in 4th place after a long breakaway. Unfortunately, Martin Phillips and Ivan O’Gorman crashed but were ok afterwards. Our Junior rider, Stephen Clancy, also raced very well and is getting stronger every week.

Things are looking up for Limerick CC!

CYCLING PURSUITS CUP

A large Limerick CC contingent was involved in both races on what was a extremely flat and fast circuit on a very fine day.

Unfortunately no honors were bestowed on the club but Limerick CC members were very active raced very positively, with a rider in each break during the course of the race.
The Senior race wan won by our good friend Mike Storan of West Clare CC while Eugene Lynch of Blarney CC turned back the years to win the A4 race.

Lacey Cup Race Report

Sunday 28th of February saw a strong contingent from Limerick CC head to Tralee for the Lacey Cup. A 3 man breakaway including two LCC members, Michael lynch and Stephen Clancy worked extremely hard in to a headwind. They were eventually reeled in after a huge effort. Nonetheless Stephen managed an excellent 10th place in the finish despite his earlier efforts. Please see below for some pictures. All pictures are courtesy of Kieran Clancy.
